Anodizing refers to the process of applying a voltage to a metal to apply an oxide film on the surface of the metal.

Anodizing, which artificially applies uniform “rust”, can prevent secondary corrosion or scratches on the metal.

It is a technology that can be used to protect the metal by covering it with a film.

The abutment is made of titanium based on metal and the color of titanium is usually dark gray.

When the abutment is placed on the gingival, sometimes the color of the titanium is reflected out of the gumIn this case, the dark gray

of titanium is added to the red color of the gums, often giving it a dark red color which leading the result is not very aesthetic.

So to counteract the color change of the gums caused by titanium, anodizing applied to the abutment.
